Debra Herrington was born, raised and educated in North Carolina. After college she became a flight attendant and lived in Chicago, Atlanta and then Houston, Texas where she met her husband Mike Herrington. In 1995 she and her husband moved to Mike's hometown of Olive Branch, MS. to work with his family in their businesses; Plantation and Cherokee Valley Golf Courses Debra is the tournament director. Debra has always had a passion for adventurous international travel which has continued after leaving the airline industry.
"I love experiencing foreign cultures and high energy adventures such as repelling down a waterfall in New Zealand, white water rafting, doing loops in a glider over Germany, zip lining through a jungle, sea kayaking, visiting ruins of ancient civilizations and admiring Renaissance art and architecture. Most of all I enjoy meeting people from other countries. Recently, I have developed a new passion which is painting. Now I enjoy painting my travel memories from vacation photographs. One of my first paintings was of some precious Polynesian children."She and Mike have no children of their own, however she is blessed with stepchildren and grandchildren. When she paints for her grandchildren she uses the name of Grand Debbie. Debra has an interest in fundraising. She and her husband are tournament directors for the 2+2 Golf Tournament that raises funds for scholarships given to students to attend the Desoto Center. She has also made a personal commitment to give a percentage of any money acquired from sales of her art to charity. "I feel that any artistic talent that I may have is a gift from God, therefore I would like to do something worthwhile with it." Debra is a student of Kay Harrison.
